Himanta can never be CM : Tarun Gogoi
Updated on

Amid first phase of panchayat election and ongoing campaign for the second phase of the election, former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Thursday attacked his former colleague and now Assam cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over latter's remarks on Congress during the panchayat election campaign around the State.

"Himanta Biswa Sarma can never become the Chief Minister of Assam," said Tarun Gogoi, while addressing a press conference in Guwahati. The former CM also said that even if Himanta becomes Assam CM, the State would head towards a great distress.

Recently, Himanta Biswa Sarma has compared the Congress party with the demonitised 500 rupees notes on several panchayat election campaign rallies. Ex CM Tarun Gogoi said that Himanta Biswa Sarma has become the all-in-all of the saffron party in the State leaving CM Sarbananda Sonowal to back foot.

Tarun Gogoi also termed Himanta as the king of corruption and said that the former congressmen can even join AIUDF quitting BJP.

Gogoi diminished  Atal Bihari Vajpayees contribution at the construction of  the Bogibeel road and rail bridge over the Brahmaputra  between Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh district. The former Chief Minister clearly opposed renaming the bridge after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
