With one of the largest Hindu pilgrimage, Ambubachi Mela approaching, the Kamrup (M) DC Biswajeet Pegu held a meeting with various departments in the Guwahati situated Circuit House.
Ambubachi will be held from June 22 to June 26. In the meeting held with top officials of departments such as Police, Tourism, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), PWD, APDCL, Health, Public Health Engineering and Transport among others, issues related to various arrangements to be made before and during the mela were discussed.
The DC has urged all the officials to table plans for the smooth functioning of the event.
Arrangements from the part of the administration such as camps, transportation, and works of the GMC, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, Public Health Engineering Department were discussed at the meeting. To ensure adequate supply of water and electricity, the DC has directed the concerned departments to make proper arrangements.
Top police officials have informed that their department will ensure security arrangements and traffic management.
This time arrangements for sufficient numbers of CCTVs, security forces along with a large number of volunteers will be made. Also NDRF and SDRF jawans will also be deployed during the 5-day event.
Installation of temporary health centres and resting sheds along the up-road of Kamakhya were also brought up at the meeting.
Special arrangements will be made for the divyangs and the aged pilgrims so that they can visit Kamakhya Temple during the mela without any difficulty.
It may be note that the DC along with the officials of the concerned departments visited the Kamakhya Temple as well as inspected the places where various arrangements will have to be made.
Director of Tourism Department Devakumar Mishra, Kamakhya temple's Doloi Mohit Chandra Sarma, Kabindra Sarma, Secretary Bhupen sarma, Additional DC namely, Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati, Kshitish Chandra Pegu, Ratul Pathak, Manoj Sikaria, Nibedan Das Patowary, Gunajit Kashyap and Lachit Das; Guwahati Police's DCPs namely, Dharmendra Kumar Das, Khanindra Choudhury, Prashanta Saikia along with several other officials were present at the meeting.
