The new Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and Assam Congress In-charge Harish Rawat on Saturday in Guwahati said that his primary task would be to strengthen the party in the state from grass root level.
After assuming the responsibility of 'Assam In-charge', this was Rawat's first visit to the state.
BJP led NDA government failed in all fronts of developments and country's economy is not in good health in the past years of Modi led government, said Rawat while addressing the media.
"First we will have to strengthen party base from grass root level. In next Lok Sabha election, Congress's performance will be better than the previous 2014 general election. People will reject Modi and BJP in 2019", said Rawat.
Replying to the question of Congress's probable tie with AIUDF ( All India United Democratic Front) in the 2019 general election , the AICC ( All India Congress Committee ) general secretary and Assam In-charge had ruled any such move from the party .
Rawat held meeting with party functionaries of all level. He also emphasized on strengthening Congress's youth wing and stressed for induction of new faces into the party.
Rawat said that he would come to the state in 15 days and visit every nook and corner of the state and meet party workers and the people.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi recently constituted the Congress Working Committee, the highest decision-making body of the grand old party.
