A hearing was made on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) by the Bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice R.F Nariman at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
National Register of Citizens (NRC) co-ordinator Prateek Hajela submitted two reports before the Supreme Court on Tuesday stating that five documents should not be allowed to be use for claiming inclusion in the NRC.
It may be mentioned that earlier, the Supreme Court had allowed the filing of claims and objections based on ten documents.
The Bar & Bench further mentioned that the Court also directed Hajela to make a power point presentation before the Central and State Government officials of the in the presence of Attorney General KK Venugopal and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on 26th October.
The stakeholders will then have to submit their response on Hajela's suggestions.
The second draft of NRC was released on July 30 where 37, 59, 630 names were rejected and 2,48,077 are on hold. A total of 4,007,707 names were excluded from the final NRC list.
The case will now be heard on November 1.
