Thewater supply in some parts of Guwahati will be partly disrupted as the Zoo Roadwater supply scheme pipeline is not operating properly due to some problem. Thewater supply will be disrupted from August 8 to August 11 as there will berepairing work in the pipeline.
Thearea has two water pumps to supply water out of which one is dysfunctional and therefore,water will be supplied through one pump for which people have to face someproblem.
The areas that fall under Zoo Road water supply scheme are Zoo Road, Ganeshguri, Christianbasti, Rajgarh, Jatia, Sorumotoria, Rukminigaon, Sreenagar, Tarun Nagar, Bhaskar Nagar, Ambikagiri Nagar, Hengrabari, Rupnagar and Japarigog.
The water supply will be disrupted for four days but Guwahati is facing acute crises daily although there are many water project lined up and it remains as a hope for the people.
The water supply project initiated by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) assisted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) has not yet completed. During the initiation of the project the GMDA official said that the water supply project will cater uninterrupted water supply to serve the population of Guwahati. The drinking water problem is a long problem for the citizens which will come up with a permanent solution after the water supply project will be completed but after 12 years also since the starting of the project, citizens have not received water.
