The citizens of Guwahati are in a dilemma as the price of vegetables in Guwahati touched sky-rocket. On the one hand, the people are facing lockdown and on the other, the price of vegetables has soared high in the market that people are giving a second thought to buy.
Although the government has fixed the rate of vegetables, the vendors are charging double price for the vegetables.
The Food and Civil Supplies department are silent on the matter for which the vendors are taking advantage of the situation and pushed the people in an impasse. Earlier, the government also announced that vegetables will be sold house-to house in the government given rate but no such step has been taken rather the vendors are selling vegetables at a sky-rocket price.
On Wednesday, the government has again fixed the retail price of vegetables. Here is the price list of vegetable:
Ridge Gourd (Jika)- Rs. 45/kg
Wax Gourd (Jali Kumura)- Rs. 40/kg
Pointed Gourd (Potol)- Rs. 40/kg
Yardlong Bean (Lesera)- Rs. 45/kg
Bitter Gourd (Tita Kerela)- Rs. 45/kg
Pumpkin (Rongalao)- Rs. 25/kg
Ladies Finger (Vendi)- Rs. 40/kg
Cabbage (Bondha Kobi)- Rs. 35/kg
Radish (Mula)- Rs. 40/kg
Green Chilli- Rs. 65/kg
Carrot (Gajor)- Rs. 95/kg
French Bean- Rs. 95/kg
Sponge Gourd (Bhol)- Rs. 35/kg
