The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in Guwahati as a precautionary measure in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

The 144 has been imposed under Central Police district in Guwahati in order to prohibit the spread of COVID-19 and to prevent any loss of human lives due to the deadly virus as many groups of persons, associations, political organizations are likely to disturb the normal functioning of offices, movement of public and traffic flow in the areas under Central Police district.

The following moves have been restricted in the areas under Section 144:

  • Assembly of more than five persons in any area under Central Police district, Guwahati
  • Carrying of arms, ammunition, explosives substances, weapon of any nature in any public places or vehicles including two or three-wheelers
  • Procession ad shouting inciting communal violence and shouting slogans in any public places or roads
  • Gambling in any public place and use of loudspeakers
