Guwahati's Sudershan Public School has received the British Council  International School Award in a recently held ceremony in Delhi. Suderashan Public School was the only school from the northeast to bag the prestigious award. A total of 44 other schools from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh were also awarded on the occasion.

Suderashan Public School has been accredited for outstanding development of the international dimension in their curriculum.

Duncan Wilson, director of Schools, English and Skills at the British Council  said, "These awards encourage schools to work with global citizenship values, offer a benchmark to teachers who want to offer best practices and learning practices, and recognize those who achieve excellence in these areas. I am very pleased to see so many participants this year and hope to see more in the future".

"We are delighted to have worked with teachers across schools in east and northeast India. The need is to move away from propositional to procedural learning. Students need to know 'why' and 'how', more than 'what' and 'when'. We hope more schools enrol for the International School Awards and go on this global journey of creative learning with us", said, Debanjan Chakrabarti, director of east and northeast India at British Council.
