In a bid to make food and grocery supplies easily accessible for Kamrup Metro's residents during the ongoing lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury and the Deputy Commissioner of the district Biswajit Pegu met on Tuesday and decided vegetables will be sold in each ward.
The decision in the meeting resulted that vegetables will be available in the markets of Guwahati from Wednesday onwards. Food items would not be supplied in every household rather vegetables will be delivered by vehicles in every ward.
It has been reported in around 100 market places across Guwahati vegetables will be supplied and sold.
Meanwhile, the minister was present in Fancy Bazar today and took stock of the rates fixed by the government and checked if they are implemented accurately. The minister said, "There is no shortage of food items. Action will be taken against traders who charge more than the specified price rates".
