The Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury on Friday fixed the price of onion and potato. The minister said that the department would act strictly against any trader who will violate the norms in selling the onion and potatoes at a high rate.
The wholesale price of potato and onion has been fixed at Rs. 24 and Rs. 23 respectively while the retail price of both the item has been fixed maximum at Rs. 30.
The minister also said that the Supplies department would take strict action against the trader who will sale onion and potato at a high price other than the price fixed by the government adding that the department won't let the situation to repeat before lockdown.
The minister also said that the department will also issued notification regarding the distribution of essential commodities once the lockdown will be relaxed. He further stated that not all retail shops be allowed to open even after relaxation of lockdown adding that the Food and Civil Supplies Department would fix the shops which will open after relaxation.
Choudhury also stated that the retail traders would not be allowed to buy commodities from the wholesale market rather the department will supply items in the shops.
Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury chaired a meeting along with Shri Biswajit Pegu, DC Kamrup Metro along with traders to takes stock of availability of vegetables and essential commodities in Guwahati Market in the presence of District Admin Officials at Office of DC Kamrup Metro.
