Guwahati-Bangkok flight starts

The Nok Air today started Guwahati-Bangkok flight and Assamchief minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the first flight to Bangkok atLokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in the wee hours of Sunday.

The flight will connect the Dong Mueang airport of Bangkokunder three hours.  Assam Transport MinisterChandra Mohan Patowary was also in the Guwahati Airport on the wee hours this morning.

Inaugurating the flight Sonowal said it will give a boost toState Government's initiatives to transform Guwahati as the gateway to theASEAN region.

The two flight services that will operate on this routeinclude DD4117 and DD4116. The flight took off from Lokpriya Gopinath BordoloiInternational (LGBI) Airport and reached Don Meuang International Airport (DMK)in under three hours.

As per reports, fares will start at Rs. 6,999 and theintroductory offer will also include 20 kg of baggage allowance and free hotmeals.

Between the two operational flights, visitors can opt totravel on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

On July 1 this year, first Guwahati-Dhaka flight by Spicejet under International Air Connectivity Scheme was flagged off.

The flight marked roll-out of UDAN-International, pioneeredby Assam Government with Viability Gap Funding of Rs 100 crore.

In the next few months, flights connecting to Kathmandu,Yangon, Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur will also commence.

Last year Druk Air – Royal Bhutan Airlines introduced Paro-Guwahati-Singapore flight.

Meanwhile, the Guwahati Airport is being modernised and new integrated terminal is being added and should be commissioned by 201. Here is a video of the up gradation.
