The Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University (GU), Pratap Jyoti Handique, informed students that the university has decided to carry out examinations and other academic activities on the basis of the recent guidelines issued by the UGC.
According to the circular, a detailed work plan and optimization of the examination procedure for the students of GU is underway. "I would like to mention that an exclusive and student-friendly procedure is to be implemented at GU so that maximum benefit can be assured to the students. GU will implement a mixed procedure of examination and may give only a marginal weight to the online mode," the circular reads.
A detailed procedure and calendar of the examination will be published immediately on completion of ongoing lockdown in Guwahati and GU plans to complete all examination procedures by 30th September 2020.
Students were asked to go for filling up of examination forms so that the number of students aspiring for promotion to the next semester or award of final degree can be assured. The date of form fill up will be extended to facilitate all the students.
Through the message, the Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the receipt of memoranda submitted by various student organizations and that their concerns are under consideration.
GU is all prepared to restart all pending activities from examinations, admissions to the start of the new session as soon as the reopening of the higher educational institutions in India comes into force.
