Govt orders normal functioning in Assam during Bandh

Bandh brings life to standstill in Udalguri

Assam Government has directed Deputy Commissioners (DC) of all districts of the state to ensure normal functioning in all government establishments in their respective districts pertaining to the Assam Bandh on November 03.

The DCs are also directed to ensure that nobody is subjected to undue harassment in the name of the proposed Bandh.

In a written statement, the government has asked the administration to ensure normal functioning of all government offices, vehicular movement of traffic, business establishments, etc and that there is no obstruction to the movement of the public and also office goers.

The statement also stated that all security agencies are to be kept on high alert to prevent any breach of peace which may lead to law and order issues. It is to be ensured that no untoward incident takes place during the said Bandh period, it added.

"Utmost vigil is to be maintained to prevent spread of any kind of rumour, hate mongering and communal discord. The law and order situation is to be handled with due care and sensitivity. Any development may be intimidated to the government immediately", read the order.

The All Assam Bengali Youth Students' Federation (AABYSF) has called for a 24 hours Assam Bandh on November 3, Saturday, from 5 am against the killing of five innocent people in Dhola.
