Earlier today, a youth allegedly committed suicide on the night of Vijaya Dashami (end of Navaratri) festivities on Tuesday.
The incident was reported at Dolormukh village in Dergaon.
The deceased was identified as Ajay Dutta.
Following the incident, the family members of the deceased lodged a police complaint stating that Ajay had gone out to witness Vijaya Dashami celebrations when one Rahul Dutta got involved in a verbal spat with a truck driver over an issue.
Later, the driver and one traffic cop attacked Ajay while he was attempting to save him, the complaint reads.
The Dergaon police station received the complaint.
Meanwhile, a video of the same incident that included the young person explaining his side of the argument went viral.
The young man made it quite evident that the encounter had caused him great distress, which was the reason he chose to take his own life.
“I tried to save the youth when the driver punched me in my face. One Traffic constable also thrashed me with his stick. I was innocent, I did nothing but only tried to save a youth who was involved in a fight with the driver. I am a poor fellow from an impoverished family. Please share this video of mine, so that I can get justice,” said the youth in a video.
