Everyyear, the Guwahati city has to suffer the burden of flash flood acrossdifferent places. But the government has not shown any concern to solve thisburning problem of the city. With the beginning of the rainy season, the peopleare worried about the artificial flood that the city is likely to witness inthe coming days.

Thedrains are loaded with heavy garbage, but the district administration was notseen taking any firm steps to prevent or reduce the risks of flash floods. Thedrains in Gandhibasti, Noonmati, ABC, Lakhiminagar and several other areas canbe seen loaded with garbage. The district administration has not taken anysteps to clean those drains. The garbage in those drains are put a stop to theeasy flow of water.

On the other hand, the Bundajan river is also seen loaded with heavy garbage and hyacinths. Notably, waste water from hundreds of drains falls into Bundajan river.

However, the district administration has inspected several places in Guwahati to take measures to reduce the impact of flash flood. But the pleadings of lakhs of people go into the deep ears of the government as they have not yet come up with fruitful solution to prevent flash-flood.
