Reactingto government's decision of filing a petition regarding re-verification of 20% namesincluded in the draft NRC list published on July 31, 2018, All Assam Students'Union (AASU) leader Dipanka Nath on Wednesday said that there might be aconspiracy behind the filing of the petition, ahead of the publication of finalNRC on July 31.
"BothCentre and State governments do not want the NRC process to be completedproperly. It is really funny that they have filed a petition ahead of only 20days of the publication of the final list of NRC," said Nath in Delhi.
"The government has been involved in the process for the last three years and now they doubt their own employees," said the AASU leader.
"TheSupreme Court is monitoring the process; however, both Centre and Stategovernments are involved in a conspiracy regarding updation of NRC," addedNath.
