CMSS Observes 36-Hour Hunger Strike in Golaghat

In the middle of a huge political row over the rejection of AICTE's affiliation for Golaghat Engineering College (GEC), Education minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya on Monday put pressure over state finance department on this issue.

As per reports, a delegation of experts denied recognition in an official letter issued on April 30, 2019, altogether 17 detailed reasons were listed there.

It has been also mentioned that "one batch each of Civil, Mechanical and Chemical, Engineering branches were admitted in the 2018-19 session without the approval of AICTE; Sociology subject for one-and-half year is taken by a teacher of another specialization; there is no feedback mechanism for students and teachers and infrastructure facilities were not satisfactory."

Bhattacharya said that his department will perform the recruitment process for the vacancy posts, when finance department gives approval to GEC in this matter.

Due to alleged ignorance of the education department, the GEC has not got AICTE's approval of recognition. As a result, the GEC students are facing an uncertain future.
