EC to seek report on Queen Oja’s educational qualifications
Updated on

A few days earlier, BJP candidate for the Guwahati constituency in the Lok Sabha Elections Queen Oja had filed nominations papers with pomp and show, however, festivities fainted with a blink as Oja's educational qualifications came under the suspicion radar.

According to news agency PTI report, the Election Commission has decided to seek a report from concerned authorities on the BJP candidate, on Thursday, for allegedly providing "false information" about her educational qualification in the affidavit, said an official.

It may be noted that Oja had stated her highest educational qualification as "Higher Secondary from Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University in the year 2011", whereas KKHSOU Vice Chancellor Hitesh Deka, when asked, said that the institution does not offer any higher secondary or 12th standard course.

"We do not have any such course. No open university in the country offer higher secondary course," PTI quoted Deka.

However the VC informed that Oja did a Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) in 2011-12 and took admission in the degree course, but did not continue.

On the other hand, the BJP candidate is standing by all the information provided in her affidavit but has alleged the Congress of conspiracy.
