Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKSHOU) has conferred doctorate degree to senior journalist Prafulla Gobinda Baruah, filmmaker Rima Das and educationist Taburam Taid in the 3rd convocation of KKSHOU held in the Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium on Sunday.
In the event, Professor Nageswar Rao has also been conferred with the D-Lit degree by the State open university.
Prafulla Govinda Baruah is the Managing Director of The Assam Tribune. In 2018, he was presented with the Padma Sri civilian honor for his contribution to the growth of literature and education in Assam, India. Baruah is also associated with various socio-cultural organisations and has been promoting amateur theatre in Assam since years.
Rima Das – best known for 'Village Rockstars' which won several National and international awards. She won India's National Best Film and Best Editor Awards, announced on 13 April 2018 by Government of India appointed jury headed by filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor.
