India has made it to the Finals of the Vault event of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup being held at Baku in Azerbaijan, as Dipa Karmakar finished third in the qualifying round.
The finals has been scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Karmakar performed a higher difficulty Handfront 540 vault on Thursday for the first time in the competition.
Today, the 25 year old Gymnast from Tripura will participate in the balanced beam event.
It may be noted that the gymnast had been successful in clinching a bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, making her the the first Indian female gymnast to do so in game's history, she also bagged a bronze medal at the Asian Gymnastics Championships and secured the fifth position at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
