Deben Dutta: One-man Enquiry Committee constituted

The Assam Government on Saturday constituted a One-manEnquiry Committee of Shyam Jagganathan, Commissioner and Secretary to theGovernment of Assam, Finance Department, to inquire into the incident that ledto the killing of Dr Deben Dutta by a mob at Teok Tea Estate on August 31.

The committee will inquire into the circumstancesleading to the death of Dr Dutta. It will also fix responsibility for the lapseon the part of any authority. Further, the committee will suggest measures tobe adopted to prevent recurrence of any such incidents in future.

Jagganathan will submit his report within 30 days.
