Death Toll of Japanese Encephalitis Rises to 101

The cases ofJapanese Encephalitis (JE) are increasing day by day in Assam and the state governmentand the health department have failed to prevent the disease although it hadtaken measures to curb the menace.

According to the data of the health department, 101 people have died due to JE while 439 people have been affected by the disease. On the other hand, 222 people have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) against 1569 people who are suffering from the disease.

A total of323 people have lost their lives from JE and AES.

Moreover,the number of deaths in Baksa was 5, Bongaigaon (1), Cachar (4), Darrang (7),Dhemaji (1), Dibrugarh (9), Dima Hasao (1), Goalpara (7), Golaghat (2),Hailakandi (3), Jorhat (8), Kamrup Metro (7), Kamrup (11), Karimganj (3),Lakhimpur (6), Morigaon (1), Nagaon (4), Nalbari (5), Sivasagar (2), Sonitpur(1), Tinsukia (8) and Udalguri (1).
