Danger looming over Lakhimpur

A dangerous situation is looming over Lakhimpur as an embankment over Ranganadi River in Borbil is gradually eroding.

If the embankment breaches, it is being feared that the entire Lakhimpur will be submerged in flood waters.

According to reports, it is due to NEEPCO Hydro Electric project releasing water that has led to the erosion of the embankment. The water level in the river is flowing above the danger mark and also leading to devastating flood in the area.
