Expressing discontentment over Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his company, MP RP Sarmah on Monday said, "Dada brigade is indulging in 'Sonowal Hatao' Mission".
"Assam BJP has converted into Himanta BJP. I have decided to reinforce the state BJP along with CM Sarbananda Sonowal after election": RP Sarmah said.
Sarmah questioned the BJP-led government on its earlier promises made in the manifesto for the 2014 elections. He criticized the BJP government for excluding the ST Status issue in its manifesto.
"My request to Bengali voters, don't trust BJP. The party has been using the CAB issue for political benefit. It's a gimmick." Sarmah was quoted as saying.
There is a proposal by the Centre to grant ST status to six communities (Koch Rajbongshi, Chutia, Moran, Matak, Tai Ahom and Tea Tribes) in Assam, which is expected to boost their support in the state. But the ST status issue was missing from the whole announcement exercise.
