Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced that COVID-19 relaxations will be given from June 15 in the state district-wise. The Chief Minister announced this while inaugurating the 300-bed COVID Care Hospital at Sarusajai.

The Chief Minister said that the Hospital is equipped with a liquid oxygen tank to ensure continuous supply of oxygen to patients. It shall be refilled weekly. However, the COVID-19 treatment at MMCH and Singimari hospital will be stopped and the hospitals will be open for general patients.

GMCH & DRDO hospital shall be available for treatment of COVID patients from now onwards," CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in a tweet.

He also informed that the 20-bed ICU and 32 Oxygen supported beds at Kalapahar hospital which is an annex of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is also ready and the hospital will be inaugurated today itself.

"Glad that the 20-bed ICU & 32 Oxygen Supported Beds at Kalapahar #COVID Care Hospital, an annex of GMCH, is also ready. I am happy to have inaugurated this too today," the chief minister wrote in another tweet.

The ICU and oxygen supported beds at Kalapahar shall further add to Assam's ability to cater to COVID treatment.

Sarusajai COVID Care Hospital

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma further stated that the Centre will provide 3.5 lakh vaccines every day from July. "We are ready to fight with the third wave of the pandemic and we are also preparing to fight the pandemic which will be vulnerable for children. We will try to upgrade the healthcare system in one or two months. We have also planned to vaccinate 8 lakhs people in 10 days," the chief minister added.

The chief minister also informed that 200-bed ICU hospital will be inaugurated at GMCH parking lot within 10 days.

The Sarusajai hospital will have 120 nurses, 60 Grade IV workers, 18 specialists doctors will be available in the hospital and 30 MBBS doctors.
