The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has released its manifesto for the upcoming Panchayat elections on Tuesday, promising to reintroduce development schemes for the greater interest of rural community.
"BJP is trying to break the 'Panchayati Raj' system. If we form the Panchayat, will push the government to reintroduce the development schemes, which had been discontinued by the saffron party" – quoted APCC President Ripun Bora as saying after the manifesto release.
"There was something for every fragment in the society that has been "cheated" by the current BJP government." – He added
"In our time, youths had left rebellious groups, but now our Assamese youths are getting inclined towards rebellious groups. Is this the "Poriborton" that BJP was claiming?" – Former CM Tarun Gogoi said.
The meeting was attended by Former Chief Minister of Assam cum Veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Bora, Bhumidhar Barman, Former Lok Sabha member Bolin Kuli and many senior leaders of the party.
Former MLA of Rangapara constituency, Abhijit Hazarika has joined the Congress party in the meeting.
