Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday reviewed the functioning of Agriculture Department in Guwahati and instructed the officials to swiftly implement the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) so that more and more farmers can be covered by the scheme.
TheCM also stressed on the need to create awareness about the scheme and directedthe department to take steps to cover 10 thousand farmers by PMKSY within June20, 2019. Discussions were also held about Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana(PMFBY), Chief Minister Samagra Grammya Unnyan Yojana (CMSGUY) and PradhanMantri Krishi Sanman Nidhi (PMKSN).
The officials of the Agriculture department informed the Chief Minister that a total of Rs 235.26 crore had already been provided to the farmers in Assam under the PMFBY scheme. The CM maintained that Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (RKVY) must be implemented in an extended manner so that more farmers could benefit from it to increase production through adoption of latest technology.
Meanwhile, the CM also directed top officials of Agriculture Department for taking steps before August 15 this year to restart the construction work of Kaziranga Orchid Park and Dima Hasao Horticulture College.
