Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday paid his tributes to the martyred CRPF jawan Biswajit Chauhan, who was killed in an encounter with the Maoists that broke out in Giridih district of Jharkhand on April 15. CM also handed over a cheque worth Rs. 20 lakh as financial assistance to the martyr's family.

Attending the Adya Shraddha of the martyr at Puthimari village of Kalaigaon under Udalguri district, CM Sonowal said, "Assam is proud of his gallantry as he sets a rich example of patriotism."
Interacting with his family members and local residents CM said that the sacrifice of martyr Biswajit will not go in vain as the State and the country as a whole is committed to work resolutely to the safety, security and development of the nation. He further stated that the sacrifice of Biswajit will always remain a glaring example as the younger generation will continue to be inspired and work for the nation building.
