After delivering the historic verdict on Ayodhya land dispute case, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has arrived in Guwahati on Sunday evening to attend a book release programme at ITA Machkhowa. During his visit to Assam, the CJI also visited his ancestral home at Khaliamari in Dibrugarh.
Chief Justice of India – designate Justice Sharad A Bobde, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court Justice Ajai Lamba among other dignitaries, will attend the book release function.
CJI will release the Assamese version of "Courts of India: Past to Present", which was published by the Supreme Court. The Assamese version is titled, 'Bharatborshor Aadalatshomuh: Otitor Pora Bortomanoloi'.
Meanwhile, CJI Gogoi plans to settle in Guwahati after his retirement on November 17. Also, the Gauhati High Court last week passed a resolution to extend the services of a dedicated private secretary, peon, and a chauffeur-driven vehicle to Gogoi after he retires as the CJI.
