Chandubi Festival begins

Chandubi Festival, which aims to promote the bio-diversity and ecology of the south Kamrup area of Assam got underway from Tuesday (Jan 1) at Chandubi.

Governor of Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the five-day long Chandubi festival and said that Chandubi Festival has been able to bring the people living along the border of Assam and Meghalaya to a point of unity.

He also hailed the efforts of the organizers in achieving this goal of transforming the festival into a bridge of unity.

The festival features bamboo and cane exhibition, traditional games and sports, cultural programmes, garment stalls etc.

The festival, to continue till January 5, will witness cultural shows, exhibition of ethnic crafts, boat rides at the historic Chandubi lake, food festival of the Rabha community, besides discussions on preservation of the local environment Assam.
