CBI summons former Manipur CM in Rs 332 crore corruption case

Former Manipur Chief Minister and Congress leader O Ibobi Singh have been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday for involvement in the misuse and misappropriation of government funds worth Rs 332 crore.

Singh will be questioned on Wednesday by a team of CBI officials who have arrived in Imphal from New Delhi.

The BJP government requested CBI to take over the case involving Ibobi Singh on November 20 last year. The CBI had conducted searches at nine locations and alleged the accused while working as the chairman of Manipur Development Society from June 30, 2009, to July 6, 2017, in conspiracy with several IAF officials, misappropriating government funds of Rs 332 crore out of the total amount of Rs 518 crore.
