Pro-talks ULFA leader Jiten Dutta's speech while protesting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has landed him in trouble as police has filed a suo motu case against him for provocative statements.

Police registered the case against Dutta for 'inflammatory speech' in Tinsukia district's Digboi at a rally organised to oppose and protest implementation of the Citizenship Bill by various organistions and local groups.

During the rally, Dutta had said that all the pro-talks ULFA leaders along with him will take up arms once again if the Citizenship Bill is passed in the State.

"The main aim of the peace talks was to safeguard the ethnicity, identity and culture of the Assamese people. If the bill is passed, the culture, language and identity of the people will be at stake," Dutta said during the rally.

Dutta added "If the bill is passed, there is no point for the Ulfa pro-talks faction to sit for peace talks with the Indian government."
