They were addressing a press meet in Guwahati.

They called that the word 'Hindutwa' as threat to Assamese and said that exclusion of the word Bangladesh from the Bill will not be helpful to save Assam; instead, they asked the government to completely drop the Bill.

The members of the Nagarikatta Sangsudhani Bidheyak Birudhi Mancha said, "The proposed exclusion of Bangladesh is nothing but a trick of the BJP government." Harekrishna Deka said that the Bill goes against the basic tenets of the Indian Constitution. "Citizenship Amendment Bill will hurt the secular feature of India," Deka added.
