CAB: Martyr’s families to return Assam Govt. honour

In protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the families of the martyrs of Assam Movement have decided to return the honour conferred on them by the government of Assam. The All Assam Jatiya Swahid Pariyal Samannayrakhi Parishad, has decided to return the mementos in protest against CAB.

The organisation has decided to return the honour to Assam government through the DCs of their respective districts. In Guwahati, the families of the martyrs on Wednesday marched from Swahid Nyash at Latasil to DC office to return the honour.

They said, "The sacrifices made by the martyrs will become meaningless if the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is passed."

Notably, the Assam government had on December 10, 2016, conferred honour on the families of the martyrs of Assam agitation.
