CAB: Black flag hoisted in Cotton University main gate

Opposing Union Cabinet's decision of passing the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the students of prestigious Cotton University on Wednesday hoisted a black flag in the main entrance gate of the university.

Apart from hoisting the black flag, the students also displayed several posters and politoons in front of the Cotton University main gate.

The CAB seeks to amend a1955 law to grant citizenship to persecuted Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains,Parsis and Christians from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan if they havelived in India for six years; and students of Cotton University along with otherorganisations have been continuously opposing the bill.

Recently, the students of Cotton University also staged a protest march in the city demanding withdrawal of the bill from Parliament. They said that the bill would harm the Assamese community in the future.
