Britannia launches new factory in Rampur, Guwahati

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday inaugurated a factory of Britannia Industries Ltd in Rampur, Guwahati.

The state-of-the-art factory is the company's biggest greenfield project in the country and is expected to boost Assam's reputation as a clean manufacturing hub at the gateway of South East Asia.

The newest addition to Assam's manufacturing sector has directly employed around 900 people and is going to generate more in the coming days. 70% of the workforce is women. The plant is operated using cleanest fuel in manufacturing, reiterating Clean Assam, Green Assam motto.

On the occasion, CM Sonowal said, "It's a great moment for us. Britannia has joined the likes of Patanjali, Future Group, Emami, Tata and others in setting a strong footprint in the State, providing large scale local employment, strengthening Assam's economy and reputation as a favourite investment destination".

"All these are the result of Advantage Assam and the guidance and support that we received from PM Narendra Modi," the CM added.
