Brahmin Samaj demands written apology from Zubeen

The Brahmin Samaj on Tuesdaydemanded written apology from Assam singer Zubeen Garg for his remarks against them.Addressing the press in Guwahati, members of Guwahati Zila Brahmin Samaj said, "Zubeenshould submit a written apology to us."

"We never thought that anartiste like Zubeen could ever make such an insensitive remark," the membersadded.

It may be mentioned here thatZubeen landed in a controversy after he said, "Brahmins should be killed."Almost half a dozen police cases have been filed in various courts of Assam byseveral Brahmin groups demanding apology and punishment for the popular singer.

However, clarifying hisstatements, Zubeen on Monday said, "This is not what I meant, people are takingit in a different direction. I had no intention of hurting anyone's emotion. Iwill clarify this within a day or two."

Meanwhile, the Guwahati ZilaBrahmin Samaj further said that they will move to court against his Zubeen Garg'supcoming film. "We have already written a letter to the censor board regardinghis film. The film must not portray any scenes that could hurt the sentimentsof Brahmins," said a member of the Brahmin Samaj.
