The Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Borjhar is submerged underwater due to the incessant rain. The entry point to the exit point is reeling under flood.
At the time when many areas in Assam are reeling under flash flood, the Guwahati airport has also been flooded due to the incessant rains. The entry point of the airport, the parking areas, taxi counter have been submerged under water.
Moreover, the army camps inside the airport have also submerged under water.
The airport is reeling under artificial flood as there is no proper drainage system to flow out the excess water. Although the airport has been upgraded with new infrastructure but there is no proper drainage system for which the airport reels under flood every year hampering the flight service for the passengers.
The employees alleged that the airport authorities do not take any adequate measures to drain out the excess water for which they have to face problems along with the passengers every year. They also alleged that the authorities also do not clean the canals for which the airport reels under artificial flood.
