Bogibeel Bridge Turns Into A Cattle Smuggling Corridor

The cattle syndicate in Assam is rising at an alarming rate and theChief Minister's home district has turned into a cattle smuggling corridor assmuggling of crores of rupees took place in Upper Assam on daily basis. The BogibeelBridge which connects Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh district has become acattle smuggling corridor.

Recently, a local organization has seized over 29 cows and handed overto police.

Cattle smuggling from neighboring Bangladesh is on the rise and it continues unabated in the state and the Chief Minister's hometown has turned into a cattle smuggling corridor. It was alleged by the locals that a group of smugglers take the cows from Assam to the neighboring states and that the Bogibeel Bridge has become the corridor of the syndicate that is rising at an alarming rate.

The police,along with Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad have seized a 12-wheeler truck carrying 29numbers of cows from Kulajan in Dhemaji. The police along with the organizationhave seized the vehicles in the Bogibeel Bridge when was being carried fromDhemaji to Nagaon. The police also apprehended five persons in connection tothis.

The apprehended persons identified as Ikram Hussain, Jiaur Rahman and Mahbur Rahman belong from Nagaon. Besides these three persons, the other two persons, the handyman and the driver hail from Sadiya.

Earlier, although 10-12 cattle laden trucks were passed through Dhola-Sadiya in Tinsukia district, the police charge huge amount of money for which the cattle smugglers used to smuggle the cows through boat from Silapathar in Dhemaji to Gelua. From Gelua the cows are being loaded in the truck and it moved towards Guwahati via Bogibeel Bridge.
