RP Sharma vows not to join any other party

In a turn of events, BJP MP Ram Prasad Sarmah has announced that he has quit from the primary membership, allegedly of being insulted by the party.

Sarmah has also alleged that BJP has undermined his 40 years of sacrifice for the party. It may be noted that earlier, he had stated if the Tezpur seat is given to somebody else other than him, which has clearly gone to Himanta Biswa Sarma's clasp, he would immediately resign.

Taking to his social media handle, the MP said, "Resigning from the primary membership of the BJP right now after serving the RSS/VHP for 15 years and the BJP for 29 years. I felt greatly insulted when my name, a sitting MP and the President of Assam Gorkha Sammelan, did not find place in panel sent up by the state BJP committee. Friends and the people of Assam and my constituency, I will continue to serve you till the end of my life. I will always lovingly nurture your support and love for me for such a long time. I love you from the core of my heart."

Sarmah has also informed that he has called for a press meet at 12 noon today in his residence at 164, North Avenue, New Delhi (MP Flats) to officially announce his resignation from BJP.
