BJP's national general secretary Ram Madhav and organisational general secretary Ajay Jamwal to visit Tripura on September 16 for a patch up between BJP and IPFT.
For the past two months, the relation between BJP and IPFT has worsened centering over filing of nomination papers in Panchayat by-election. The leaders of BJP-IPFT have created fracas over the issue of Block Advisory Committee (BAC) chairmanship.
In a statement to media, IPFT leader told "The party has already decided to launch a movement in support of Twipraland as it was decided in the party's central executive committee".
As per reports, BJP Core Committee has put pressure on BJP state president-cum-CM Biplab Kumar Deb to end the alliance with IPFT. BJP has 36 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly, while IPFT has only eight legislators.
On the other hand, a five-member IPFT delegation headed by general secretary Mangal Debbarma met the Secretary of State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday and demanded to give an opportunity so that their candidates could file nomination papers for the by-election.
The IPFT leader alleged that IPFT candidates could not file nomination papers due to resistance from BJP workers. Therefore the party has requested the poll body to extend time for filling of nomination papers so that party nominees could submit their papers"
It may be mentioned that the last date for making nomination papers ended on September 11 and scrutiny was done on September 12 and by-election is slated for September 30.
