BJP ‘insults’ Srimanta Sankardev

In a shocking incident, BJP replaced Srimanta Sankardev with Narendra Modi. The BJP supporters in Nagaon have been campaigning with Dihanaam and Nagaranaam by replacing Srimanta Sankardev's name with PM Narendra Modi in the songs.

The Dihanaam and Nagaranaam are being used in the campaign for Nagaon BJP candidate Rupak Sarmah. The Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha has strongly opposed the move by the BJP workers. Condemning the incident, a member of the organisation termed it as an "insult" to the saint.

Dihanaam, a type of congregational prayer, is sung in Assam in praise of the saint Sankardev.
