Birubala Rabha, a tribal woman from a remote village in Assam, who has been fighting a tough battle against the menace of witchcraft and witch-hunting. This time, Rabha has got another international honour from the Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF).
Xavier's Foundation in association with Gauhati University handed over a certificate to Rabha at a ceremony held at the Phanidhar Dutta Seminar Hall. The award has been instituted by WWSF-Women's World Summit Foundation, Geneva, Switzerland. Rabha also received a cash prize of $1,000.
The WWSF felicitates the women, who are working to improve the quality of life in rural areas, protecting the environment, rising up for women's rights, and participating in the realisation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) UN Agenda 2030.
Rabha, who hails from Thakurbhila, a remote village in Goalpara district close to the Assam-Meghalaya border, was honoured with honorary Doctorate by Gauhati University earlier.
