A bike rider was killed on the spot as a result of a major road mishap in Assam's Barpeta, reports emerged on Wednesday.
As per initial reports, the incident took place at Besimari village in the Barpeta district of Assam last night. A speeding passenger bus lost control and rammed into a motorcycle causing the accident.
The motorcycle rider was killed on the spot in the accident. He was identified as one Rakibul Islam.
Meanwhile, having caused the accident the driver and the co-pilot of the bus fled from the scene.
Following the accident, a section of people who witnessed the accident, along with those inside the bus at the time of the incident accused the co-pilot instead of the driver of driving the bus which may have led to the accident.
A search has been initiated to find the absconding driver and co-pilot of the bus.
Elsewhere, another road accident was reported in Assam's Lanka in the early hours of Wednesday.
Reports stated that a Maruti car collided with an oncoming two-wheeler in which the rider of the two-wheeler was injured.
The injured scooty rider was immediately rushed to a nearby infirmary where he is undergoing treatment.
