Bandh supporters set truck on fire in Kokrajhar

A truck has been burnt down by unidentified persons suspected to be bandh supporters in Kokrajhar district.

Reports said a truck bearing registration UP-25 AT-6390 was set on fire by suspected bandh supporters today morning.

As per sources, one occupant of the truck died and three persons suffered serious injuries, later Police had sent the injured persons to hospital.

The deceased identified as Saddam Hussain.

The truck was on the way to Tezpur.

The incident had occurred amid the The All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Yuba Chatra Sanmilani, the All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU, All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani (AAKRS) sponsored 48-hour bandh.

The bandh has been called in protest against the Centre's reported move to grant Union Territorial Council status to Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).

It is worth noting that during the 48-hour bandh, BTAD areas witnessed tense situation on Tuesday following the pandemonium that broke out between the general public and the security forces which resulted in the burning down of vehicle and incurred injuries to scores of bandh supporters.
