Ban on Single-Use Plastic Won’t Hamper BCPL: Gowda

Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Sadananda Gowda on Thursdaysaid that the ban on single-use plastic by the government won't hamper theindustry of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL).

Laying the foundation stone of the 2nd phase project of Hydrogenated Pyrolysis Gasoline (HPC) of BCPL at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh, Gowda said, "The project worth Rs. 125.99 crores will provide a new dimension to the industry once the project will become operational. Once it becomes functional, it will produce 52 thousand metric tonne of HPG which will take the public sector industry to a new dimension."

It may be mentioned that the BCPL has earned a profit of Rs. 69 croressince it started production from January, 2016.

On the other hand, the Minister also assured that the industry whichfaces many obstacles and challenges regarding the scarcity of gas will soon besolved.

Regarding the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd. (BVFCL),the minister said that the fourth unit of the plant will soon be set up and thegovernment has also taken steps to run the third unit smoothly.
