The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) launched the Chalo App to introduce various digital initiatives for its bus services in Guwahati.
The App hasbeen designed to enable commuters to track the live position of their bus on amap. The commuters can now buy a mobile pass or get tickets from the Appthrough the Automated Fare Collection System causing a smooth travel experienceand they don't have to wait for buses at the stoppages for long hours.
ASTC hasalso announced a 35% concession on its bus fares for the girl commuterstravelling within Guwahati. Concession will also be given to boys (30%), SeniorCitizens (50%), Physically Challenged (100%), Freedom Fighters (100%) and Media(80%).
Launchingthe app, Anand Prakash Tiwari, MD, ASTC said that the first phase will cover250 city buses. He also said that Assam will be the first state in the countryin a few months time to have a state-wide smart transport solution and commonmobility card for its commuters.
