All Assam Publishers and Book Sellers Association will stage a sit-in protest today at the Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra near Dighalipukhuri from 10.30 am onwards.
The association of local book publishers has also got support from the Asam Sahitya Sabha, the All Assam Students' Union, the SFI and a number of other organisations to make the government listen.
It may be mentioned that the publishers association and the Publication Board of Assam intend to hold their demands regarding North East Book Fair, the prime and popular book fair of North East region. The Convener of NE book fair has planned to organize the 20th edition of the event from November 1 to 20 this year. But recently a sudden interruption comes from Assam government to this prime carnival.
Zubeen Garg has also extended his support to the protest and said that it is embarrassing for the State and people should protest against the decision.
