The Assam police on Sunday arranged a Puja preparatory meeting. The meeting was held at the office of the Commissioner of Police, Panbazar.
Deputy General of Police (DGP) Kuladhar Saikia was present at the meeting along with the top officials of East, West and Central Police Districts of Guwahati . Officials of crime branch were also present at the meeting.
The raising security concerns over Durga Puja and the upcoming One Day International match between India and West Indies on 21st October at Barsapara were discussed in the meeting .
The Assam Police said that they are ready to counter any terror activity during the Puja and the One Day International match and they are keeping a strict vigil to ensure the Puja festivities and ODI in the city are hassle-free.
The police also said that the investigation of the Panbazar bomb blast is still on. However they are yet to find out the details of the explosives used in the blast.
It is to be mentioned that a low intensity blast occurred at Panbazar near Mahendra Mohan Choudhury (MMC) Hospital injuring four people and damaging a bus on Saturday.
Moreover a terror plot by Hizbul Muzahideen during Durga Puja was revealed by the dreaded militant Kamruz Zaman in an interrogation by Assam Police few days back which has set the police on high alert.
