According to data of the Assam Government, 24 districts contain arsenic in water out of the 33 districts which is poisonous and many people fall ill after consuming water in these districts.
The water contains arsenic in 6881 areas of 24 districts while in 930 areas the water contains fluoride.
In a survey conducted by the Government of Assam, the districts of Barpeta, Baksa, Jorhat, Darrang and Nalbari have high-risk factors as it has been identified as arsenic boards. On the other hand, the districts of Nagaon, Dhubri, Karbi Anglong, Udaloguri and Nalbari have been identified as floride polluted water which has the highest risk factor.
The people of Assam are consuming water which contains fluoride and arsenic although the Centre has released 330.96crores of rupees to tackle the problem of water which contains arsenic and fluoride under the sub-campaign of National Water Scheme.
